The Way: Life of Mystery

To follow the Way of Christ, you must be subversive. The path isn’t wide. It’s narrow, and few choose it, but it’s still the Way.

If you follow Him, most will call you a fanatic because you will follow too closely for their comfort.

They will view your simplicity as static instead of content. They may even call you extreme because you’re obsessed with something they can’t understand. Your desire for authenticity doesn’t fit with their programmed conformity to pop culture.

You refuse to trade stillness for busyness. You don’t demand clarity when you have purity. Silence scares them because it reminds them that they don’t know peace. Your commitment to beauty demands that you slow down and can’t afford to speed up. The casual observer can only see pretty and never discover what true beauty is.

Your love will offend because it includes everyone. What’s happening in you is scandalous to a self-preservation mentality. You don’t see the world through self-lenses; you see it through Christ alone.

Most won’t understand that you are breathing easily, an air that chokes them, eating food they can’t see, and drinking from a well that has no bottom.

They are waiting for a rapture that you are already living in. Nothing about you wants to escape; you want to remain.

To most, your life will be a mystery. But I want to encourage you to keep going. Let love light a lamp that leads the way. Discover the treasure and hold it close to your chest.

The masses don’t leave the comfort of the shore, even though the treasures are in the deep. The further out you go, the more you lose control. The things that are worth finding are beyond the shallows; they are in the unknown.

Even if they don’t understand, it’s still the WAY!
